Can I carry these in unmarked containers or do I need to bring the large bottles?
We are driving to Halifax from Maine. If I purchase these products in Canada, won’t I have the same problem when we drive back to Maine?
Am travelling to Canada for four days. I have large bottles of a multivitamin and fish oil. Can I put these?

You can’t carry on containers of gels or liquids of more than 100ml on most airlines or security checks. If you put these in check-in luggage, they will probably detect them with x-rays or dogs — followed by delaying you (taking you off the flight), customs going through them with a fine tooth comb, and everyone generally p-d off because you are wasting their time. They will also likely ask for receipts and proof that these are for personal use. How many multivitamins and how much fish oil do you need for four days?
If you are driving, chances are they’ll never check. I’d bring the original containers just to avoid the obvious questions just in case you are hit by a random search or some other problem. Otherwise, again, you are looking at hours in customs as they take your car apart, contact the people you are going to visit, bring in dogs, etc., etc.
They have multivitamins and fish oil in Canada. Any pharmacy, health food store, and most supermarkets will carry them. Why run customs, security agents, airline staff, and other passengers through grief when you can just buy these in Canada? Think of it as something to do. You can try out a Canadians drug store.
as annoying as it is, the original package is best. If you’re driving, taking the bus or train, you might be okay with putting them in smaller containers, but if you are flying, than your safest option is leaving them in the original containers.
Just go buy a smaller bottle of each of them so that you can carry them in the original bottles across both border crossings. Then you will have no worries. A bottle of 50 or 100 is not that large.
But really, if you miss your fish oil and vitamins for 4 days you will not suddenly keel over.
I just got back from several days in Las Vegas and I never bother with my daily fish oil and vitamins because I do not want to bother with the original bottles.
